Since there are only a few days left in 2007, I was thinking over all that I have written in the past year and I clearly have posts that are my favorites. Narrowing it down wasn’t easy, but I came up with a list of my five favorite posts from ’07.
1.
Grief Will Not Win: In this post, I shared a quote that I had just come across. “You can let the grief control you or you can control the grief.” ~ Author Unknown I then go on to say how each day when I wake up, I feel like I have a choice; a choice to get up and work on and through the grief I am feeling or a choice to let the grief work on me. Although I do have an occasional pity party, I am happy to say that most days, I work on the grief.
2.
Wearing More than One Adoption Hat: I really enjoyed writing this short series on members of the adoption triad who wear more than one “hat” so to speak, meaning they hold more than one position in the triad. I interviewed
Lisa, an adoptee and a birthmom,
Kacy, an adoptive mom and birthmom, and
Patty, an adoptee and adoptive mom.
3.
Missing the Baby: In this post, I wrote about how sometimes when I am missing Charlie, I miss the little baby from the hospital instead of the active six year old I see running around today as I feel like I knew the baby Charlie better than the six year old Charlie.
4.
Love Letters: This Love Thursday post included a picture of a letter that I wrote to Charlie when he was just a few days old explaining why I chose adoption for him. That letter has either sat on his dresser or hung on the wall framed since just a few days after I gave the letter to his mother.
5.
Crafting with Coley: Memory Boards: My favorite craft post of the year were the fun memory boards that I shared instructions on. One reader made one for herself and her daughter and sent me a few photos and her memory boards turned out great!
