Two Photo Ideas

Not too long ago I addressed the issue of adoptive parents sending photos to their child’s birthmother.

I have two additional ideas pertaining to sending and sharing photos with your child’s birth family to share with you today. One idea is new to me and the other is an idea that I just forgot to mention in my previous posts.

Websites
This is the idea I failed to mention! In this technological era, websites are a great way to share photos. There are many free or low cost websites out there that you could use to display pictures of your child on. You can update them easily and frequently and most of them are simple enough that even the technically challenged can accomplish one. You can also password protect them so that not every Jane or Joe out there on the world wide web can see your little one, only those you invite and give the password to. This is a great way to frequently share pictures of your constantly changing child with his or her birth family as well as your out of town family members and friends.

A few free websites:

“Watch Me Grow” Photos
This is the idea that is new to me and I absolutely love it! Each month on your child’s monthly birthday, take a photograph of him or her. On a piece of paper, write or type your child’s age, weight, and length and then place it in the photo with him or her. Just lie it next to him/her or prop it on a pillow.

For example, one month could say,
“I am 8 months old today!
January 20th, 2007
Weight: 20 lbs, 2 oz.
Length: 22 inches”

You could make these as plain or as cute as you wanted. Print them on cute printed paper or add some seasonal clip art to them. These photos are not only great for your child’s birthmom would also be a nice memory for you and your child. If you scrapbook, you could make a “watch me grow” page using a picture from each month.

A cute variation of that idea or something that you can add to the photo is to also take a photo each month with a favorite stuffed animal then you can look back and see your child’s progression as he starts to get way bigger than the stuffed animal.

Have fun with your photos!
