First of all, let me wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas. I hope that you were able to spend the day (or at least part of it) with loved ones. I hope you had a peaceful day as well.
My Christmas was nice; busy, but nice. It started out busy because of all the things that I must do as the Mom of another child, one that I am parenting. Ya know, stuffing the stockings and all that. It's days like today that I am all the more thankful for the child I am parenting because he takes my mind off the one that I am not. Often times through out the day today, when I was watching Noah look at what Santa brought him, as I saw his delight at a new toy, and as we were sitting down at the table for Christmas Day dinner of turkey and dressing, my mind and thoughts drifted off to Charlie. I wondered what he was doing at that very moment, what gifts he was opening, and what his Christmas Day dinner consisted of. I couldn’t help but feel as if a place was missing from the dinner table today, a stocking missing from the mantle.
I was lucky though and did get to hear from Charlie later on in the afternoon. I learned that he received some sort of Nintendo game thing from Santa. I’m not up to speed on all the latest Nintendo gadgets, so I wasn’t a hundred percent sure which one he got. He also got some cowboy boots and a cowboy hat that he was very excited about. It was nice to hear from him and hear about his day and what Santa brought him, but bittersweet at the same time.
It just all makes me think about how quick it was to sign my name to the relinquishment papers but what a life altering decision it was. I definitely didn’t think about how my life would be affected on holidays like it has been.
And so, my friends and readers, tonight I wish you blessings and peace.
