I’m not feeling so hot today as my sweet son shared his cold/virus with me, but I at least wanted to post my thankful post for the day.
In the general hustle and bustle of everyday life, we tend to take normal everyday things for granted. As a birthmother one of things I am thankful for is the small moments I am able to have with Charlie.
Some of my favorite “small moments” have been:
- Riding in a bumper boat with him at a fun park
- Talking to him on the phone on Mother’s Day, Christmas, and Thanksgiving and all the normal, ordinary days in between
- Watching him model his “My Birthmom Rocks” t-shirt
- Going with him to see Santa for the first time when he was just a couple of months old
- His giant hugs
- Making the cake for his birthday dinner at my house when he turned 5
- Playing cars with him at my mom’s house
- Playing on Noah’s keyboard with him, Noah, and N. (his sister)
- Reading a book to him
- Singing happy birthday to him
- Eating out occasionally with him and his family
I try not take those small moments for granted and am thankful for each one and re-play it over and over in my head. I write about it in my journal so that when my mind stops working, I can read it over and over.
