No your eyes are not deceiving you. It really is me, Coley, blogging in the Open Adoption Section. I am not new to blogging here but am new to this section. I will be co-blogging with Genevieve. You’ve probably seen me around Adoption Blogs as I have been a co-blogger in the Crisis Pregnancy section since June.

I placed my birthson, Charlie, in an open adoption following his birth in 2001. I believe in open adoptions whenever it’s healthy and beneficial to the child. I also believe in open and honest communication between adoptive parents and birth parents. You can read my adoption story and learn more about me in my original introductory post.

I am excited to be blogging in the Open Adoption Section and bringing you a birthmom’s point of view! When I started Crisis Pregnancy Blogging, I wasn’t too sure if I would like this, be able to keep up, etc. but was willing to give it a shot. I’ve come to find that I love it! I’ve learned a lot about myself and my feelings. I’ve learned to be more honest with myself and have realized that I’m not as ok as I thought I was with my adoption. But, now I know what I need to work on. Writing really is helpful and healing. Sitting down to write these columns each day has brought me a little quiet time and time to reflect on my life and my choices.

I also love reading the various blogs here. There are some really great bloggers here blogging on all sorts of topics such as search and reunion, parenting special needs kids, and older child adoption, just to name a few! There is surely something for everyone here!

Genevieve and I have talked and have some plans in the future to do some posts on various related adoption experiences and situations and provide you with a birthmom’s and an adoptive mom’s point of view.
