“A picture is worth a thousand words.”

Photographs are priceless memories that can not be replaced. Photos describe memories that we may not be able to find the words to describe them accurately. Photos give us a tangible way to remember a fleeting moment, event, or memory.

I have many treasured photographs of the time Charlie and I spent together in the hospital following his birth as well as oodles of photos of him alone, of us together at visit, of him and his adoptive family, and of him and Noah. Each photo represents a different stage of his life. Each photo is irreplaceable.

The month of May is National Photography Month, a month to remind us all how priceless photographs truly are and to encourage us to take more photos. And what better time for Adoption.com to be wrapping up their photo contest than National Photography Month!

The theme for the Adoption.com 2007 photo contest is “loved.” That gives you a tremendous amount of flexibility as what represents “loved” is an interpretation. So think about it, what does loved mean to you? Have you already captured that in a photograph? Or can you capture that in a photograph? Of course! It’s your interpretation as to what “loved” is!

So I encourage all of you to take moment and look through your photos. Does one scream “loved?” If not, take one!

Adoption.com’s photo contest runs until May 31st, so get your entries in soon! Please note, professional photos are not allowed. The contest is based on votes so add your picture, then email your friends and family and have them vote for you! Winners are announced June 6th and Adoption.com is awarding up to $2,000 dollars in prizes.
