May flew by with lots of post and discussions here in the open adoption blog.
Since Mother’s Day falls in May there were discussions about Mother’s Day along with ideas on
how to cope with Mother’s day, an
explanation of Birthmother’s Day. I also wrote about past http://open.adoptionblogs.com/weblogs/our-birthmom-s-day-event Birthmother’s Day events and shared lots from
this year’s Birthmother’s Day event and my favorite part of the event, the candle light ceremony.
Also, I discussed contact a little bit in the posts about
ongoing contact and
post adoption contact agreements. I gave you tips on
how to communicate effectively to try to avoid contact issues.
Love Thursday posts are always fun to write and this month’s were no exception as I shared
our birthday candle tradition and told you about a
special phone call I received from A, Charlie’s adoptive mom.
May’s crafting post was a
fun photo puzzle!
And I wrapped up the month by sharing
my personal story of finding support from another birthmother and then discussed
online support.
And that brings us today; it’s now June! School is out for most, the weather is getting warm (or hot!) and it’s a laid back, lazy time of year. But that doesn’t mean I will be lazy about my writing! In June, I will start off the month discussing visits in open adoptions. I know it’s been done before in AdoptionBlogs, but I think it’s an important subject worth covering again and hopefully you will be able to take away something new from the series.
That being said, I’d love to hear your personal favorite visit. If you are an adoptive parent, tell me about a meaningful experience that your child shared with his/her birthparent(s) and if you are a birthmom tell me about your favorite visit with your child. What did you do? Where did you go and why was it so special?? Share your answers with me by emailing me at openadoptionblogger@adoptionmail.com.
Happy June everyone! Stay cool
