In conjunction with his song, "Everything to Me" Mark Shultz is holding a contest and is calling for submissions of adoption stories.
In case you may not be familiar with Mark Shultz, let me explain. He is a Christian singer and song writer who is quite popular nowadays. His songs have a message that resonates with people.
Mark himself is adopted and had never given a whole lot of thought to his adoption story or his birthmother. He himself believed the popular misconception that his birthmother just “gave him away.” Talking with a woman after singing at a pro life benefit he began to see the other side. This lady explained his birth mother’s options to him and then he began to realize that she made the decision she did out of love – not because she was “giving him away.”
Touched by the conversation with that lady and his newfound understanding of a birthmother, he sat out with song writing pal, Cindy Morgan to write a song about adoption. Mark says that he had a great life with his adoptive parents and just wants his birthmother to know that.
“It’s almost like taking her hand and walking her through my life when I was little and playing baseball with my dad, the prayers at night with my folks, and my mom reading ‘Goodnight Moon.’ Then back to what would it be like if we met on the street. Would you know it was me? Would you just kind of know?”
That song became titled "Everything to Me" and is featured on Mark’s latest CD Broken and Beautiful. Now, Mark Shultz is holding a contestant and is asking for others who are touched by adoption to send in their stories or videos.
Here’s the details of the contest:
