On Thanksgiving, which also happens to be Love Thursday, it seems only appropriate to discuss the many things I’m thankful for. It’s actually probably too many to list or you’d still be reading instead of Black Friday shopping tomorrow! (If you are that brave!)
First and foremost, I’m thankful for God, for without him my life wouldn’t be what it is. I’m blessed on a daily basis by God’s love and can’t imagine not having that in my life.
Secondly, I’m thankful for my family, however, my definition of family might be somewhat different from the next person’s. My family includes those immediate people I live with. Ya know, the husband and my Noah. I can’t forget the two people who raised me, my ever patient parents. (You’d have to be patient to put up with me – just ask the husband!) Then there is my sibling, my brother. Yes, even after fighting over who got the front seat for years I’m thankful for him. Then there are the dear friends that are so close I consider them to be family, like sisters. I’m thankful for my best bud Lani and my old friend from college, K. Then of course, there is my Charlie, who I am so very thankful for even though I’m not parenting him. Then there is Charlie’s family who I consider to be an extension of my own family. I’m thankful for Charlie parent’s, S and A, and for his sister, N. I’m also thankful for the many members of his extended adoptive family who love him dearly too.
I’m also thankful for open adoption. I’m thankful for the opportunity and ability to know my son and be a part of his life, not on a daily basis, but at least on a regular basis. I’m thankful for the wonderful friends I have made in the adoption community.
Lastly, I’m thankful for everything else I’m blessed with; a home, food to eat, and so on. And of course, I’m thankful for you all, my readers! I’m wishing each of you a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!
So, what are you thankful for?
