Keeping in with my back to school, theme this Love Thursday, I decided to drag out some old photos of the first of day kindergarten!
Do you remember your first day of kindergarten? I don’t! But for most children, it’s the start of a long school career. It’s an exciting (and sometimes scary) day full of new things and new beginnings. Although I don’t remember my own, I bet my mom does. I do remember Noah and Charlie’s though!
If you have been reading this blog very long, then you probably already know who those three kiddos in the pictures above are. The first picture is me on my first day of kindergarten in 1982. The second picture is Noah on his first day of kindergarten in 2002 and last but not least, the last picture is of Charlie, last year (2006) on his first day of kindergarten.
I’ve mentioned before that the first day of school for Charlie last year was a hard day for me. I remember Noah’s first day of kindergarten like it was yesterday. I drove him to school the first day and stayed with him until he felt comfortable and then sadly drove myself home. I do remember thinking that I would miss most those moments with Charlie. A would have the moments on the first day of school with him, not me but at that point it was a ways off.
A took the above picture of Charlie on the first day of school last year and then sent it to me super quickly because she knew how anxious I had been about the first day of school. I love that photo. Although, I wasn’t there, I feel like I was there. I know him well enough to know, he hurriedly threw his backpack on the ground and said “Hurry up, Mom, take the picture” to A as she quickly snapped some pictures to forever remember that day.
So, this Love Thursday, it’s all about going back to school! Happy Love Thursday!
