It does my heart good to see pictures like this one of my boys, big brother and little brother, just being brothers! This picture was taken on Charlie’s birthday. We take a lot of pictures of them sitting together in that chair (it’s Noah’s favorite chair in our home when he is not in our wheelchair) so it’s neat to see the progression of them growing over the years as well.
I really enjoy watching them interact as brothers and as friends. They really do act like brothers many times – they will be playing together and having a great time and then next thing you know, they are fighting about something or over a toy, as they did with Noah’s space shuttle key in our most recent visit.
Another funny brotherly (or sibling) thing is that they both get jealous of when I am paying attention to the other one! I can remember being jealous of my own little brother many times so I think that is a normal sibling thing. It does make me sad that though these brothers sleep in different homes and that the only living sibling Noah may ever have lives an hour away.
I was trying to make the same scrapbook page to go in both of their scrapbooks. I love putting cutesy little poems on scrapbook pages so off I went searching of a poem about brothers online at some of the scrapbooking inspiration sites that have different lists of poems. Of course, I couldn’t find anything that really fit our situation so I decided to just write my own, using one I did like as an example. Below is the poem, I came up with that will go on their scrapbook pages and yes I know it's a tad on the cheesey side but I like it anyways! :)
Brothers
by Noah’s Mom and Charlie’s birthmom
We may not live in the same house
but we are brothers just the same
Just like any other brothers
Only we don’t share the same last name.
We are brothers
and are fast becoming friends
And when we are together
sometimes the fun never ends.
But just like any other brothers
there are times we argue and disagree
And that’s when one of our Moms steps in
and has to play referee.
Although our family may be different
and not like all the others,
To us that doesn’t really matter
cause we are still just brothers.
So, this Thursday, love is about being brothers whether you are being the best of friends or fighting over the space shuttle key!
