That is one very special ornament you are looking at. It’s special to me for many different reasons.
First of all, I love Christmas. It is my favorite holiday of the year. Although at times, being a birthmother during the holidays can be tough, it is still one of my favorite times of the year. I love decorating my home for the holidays and decorating my Christmas tree. In years past, I have had a “themed tree” where all the ornaments and decorations on the tree and in my living room were a part of some sort of theme like snowmen or angels. But this year, I just wanted to put all of my favorite ornaments on the tree regardless of whether or not they matched or were color coordinated. The end result has me staring at the most beautiful tree I have ever decorated because each ornament on it means something to me or to my family.
Secondly, the pictured ornament is a Precious Moments ornament. I have become somewhat a collector of Precious Moments ornaments and figurines in the past few years and love their simplicity and reflection of childlike innocence.
Thirdly, this particular Precious Moments ornament portrays a child in a wheelchair playing basketball. Although Noah plays baseball and not basketball, the little boy on the ornament still instantly makes me think of Noah.
I’ve saved the best reason as to why that ornament is so special to me for last. Charlie gave it to me. He and his family gave it to me as a birthday gift for this past birthday. He was very excited for me to open it and see it. As I did, he quickly pointed out that the little boy on the ornament looked like his “Big Brother Noah.”
Oh, yes, definitely one of my favorite ornaments!
