Hello . . . Anybody There?

Well the end of my first month as a blogger here is very quickly approaching!

I am starting to enjoy this blog thing! I still have a lot of interesting stories I would like to share with you. I know I am however a work yet in progress, still trying to find my “voice.” I am hopeful that this blog can continue to grow along with me as I have new experiences and find ways to process them and to share that learning with all of you.

I would be amiss though if I did not say that I am also beginning to wonder...

IS ANYONE EVEN OUT THERE?

If you are out there reading, I am inviting you now to leave me a comment (ok in a bit nicer way than my cartoon friend there). I have encountered others who hosted “de-lurking” week, who have set up surveys to hear from their target readers, a lot of great stuff. I however am a bit on the simple-minded side some days (like just after a night up with two sick kiddos), so I am just going to invite you to comment.

Please say hello, tell me why you are reading, let me know what I might be able to share that would help you most. Now is your chance to tell me about yourself and something about what you would like to see me blog about.

While I am no expert, I am hopeful that my sharing my own experience can help to educate those who are interested in some small way. I am also here to learn myself. Hearing from YOU and what your experience has been has helped me to form a more empathetic view of the adoption community.

So, HEY, YOU stop what your doing and say hello!

LOL - I feel the same way, Deb. I do read but don't comment all that often either. ;) In fact, my one month anniversary was Saturday. ;) Keep it up! (Oh, I did find out one way to get a bunch of comments quick - post something controversial - ha!)

I've been reading, even if I don't comment. It's hard though, to know what people are thinking when they don't comment.

I'm thinking...I like your cartoon!

I've been doing this here for a year, and if it weren't for a few loyal commenters I'd feel like I've been shouting in an empty room the whole time.

Inspiring people to leave comments is like getting them to volunteer for a mammogram. One very wise long-term blogger told me, though, that she's never had ONE comment on her very, very successful blog. That made me feel better, but I'd still love to have more interaction with the people who are reading.

Just to make each other feel better, we can agree to post comments back and forth. How's that sound?

I'm here!

I'm reading b/c I am interesting in possibly pursuring a more open adoption with my son's b.mom, and trying to get more information to try and convince my husband to want the same thing. :) (easier said then done!). lol

Hi Deb,
Welcome to the blog network! I am an adoptive mom in an open adoption (two of them, actually). I also write about open adoption on my Christian Adoption Blog from time to time.

Love the cartoon! I think because people have to register to make comments, it's too much of a hassle for many people. But don't worry, they're still reading!

P.S. I just read Sandra's Comment:
"Inspiring people to leave comments is like getting them to volunteer for a mammogram."

SO TRUE! Great analogy, Sandra!

(Now you have 11 comments).
