In my previous posts about gift ideas, I mentioned that ornaments are a great gift idea for birthmoms from their children or for birthmoms to give to their children. Today, I’d like to share one specific ornament idea that is a personalized one of a kind ornament.
Last year I was discussing Christmas gifts with Debbie, a friend who is an adoptive mom. She was trying to think of a nice Christmas gift for each of her children’s birthmoms. I suggested the idea of a
recordable ornament to her. After explaining what a recordable ornament is, Debbie loved the idea and went on the hunt for them.
A recordable ornament is a typical ornament except it has a little voice box inside of it and you can record a little message and then play it back. It also holds a photo. Luckily, Deb found and bought the last three recordable ornaments the store had left. She then had the her daughters sing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” into their birthmom’s ornament.
“The girls enjoyed making their birthmoms a recordable photo ornament last year. They both sang a song separately and then ended it with Merry Christmas, Love and their name. And for my youngest, who was just 7months old at the time, my husband played with him to get him to giggle and we recorded that on the ornament for his birthmom.
We had so much fun creating these and the girls just loved it! All three of their birthmom's commented on how awesome this was and how much they will cherish this gift each year! “ ~ Deb
If you have a special ornament idea, I’d love to hear it. You can email me at openadoptionblogger@adoptionmail.com and I may feature your ornament ideas and suggestions in upcoming posts.
