Gift Idea: Adoption Calendar

Here’s a great adoption related gift idea that would be great for just about anyone!

The 2007 Touched by Adoption Calendar by Patrick McMahon is a beautiful calendar featuring gorgeous photos taken by Patrick McMahon. Each month hosts a different photograph and a quote related to adoption. A portion of proceeds from the sale of each calendar is donated to adoption education and reform organizations. So not only are you (or whomever you choose to give it to) receiving a beautiful calendar, but you are supporting a cause at the same time.

I actually received one of these calendars as a gift last year (Thanks Tessa!) and words can not adequately describe it.

The ideas, thoughts, and feelings of those touched by adoption are unique and often difficult to express. Each member of the triad as well as their families and friends experience many joys and challenges. It is my intent to portray some of these concepts in the words and images collected for this calendar.

The photos and quotes used in the 2007 Touched by Adoption calendar are shown on the website. I think that my favorite month of the calendar for this year is probably August which features the photograph of a footprint in the sand with an incoming wave trying to wash it away. The quote that goes along with the photo for that month is “Who we are and where we come from can never be washed away.” Patrick McMahon is an adoptee himself so understands some of the issues, concerns, and emotions of members of the adoption triad and the adoption community. Patrick has been a featured speaker at a past Concerned United Birthparents Conference and Retreat. He is also working on a book entitled Becoming Patrick, One Man’s Odyssey as an Adoptee.
