February Is All Adoption Blogged Out!

Whew! I am soooo utterly exhausted! I have been blogging my buns off for the last few days of February and I am so glad to see March in the horizon. There have been so many interesting posts for me this month, I can hardly believe that I have touched on so many topics in such a short time (only 28 days!).

To start off the month (on a Love Thursday no less) I talked about my love of poetry and shared a beautiful adoption themed poem by Joyce Maguire Pavao. Other Love Thursdays for the month spoke of my handsome husband and about how much I am missing one of my kids birthparents right now.

Brandy over at the forums opened an interesting topic “what does an adoption friendly state mean to you”, and I covered my feelings in a blog entry. I also addressed talking to your child’s class about adoption because I had just recently done so for my daughter’s 4th grade class. There was a series on adoption support groups and my personal journey through finding someone to connect with. Right before the Valentine’s holiday I blogged about ways to feel love in an open adoption, and for the hearts day itself I shared our lazy little day around the house, heart shape pancakes and all.

Around the middle of the month my post on parenting and accountability set off a fire storm of discussion (and probably the most comments I have received to date!), but that ok because talking is learning. About that time I was feeling low on the luck so I shared what I was doing to find some under the law of abundance, an interesting (if not 20th century) custom. I talked of building an open adoption relationship as well as feeling totally drained emotionally as a parent.

There was also a very interesting post on mediation in an open adoption. In light of some of todays developments on my home front I will have to go back and re-read that one myself, a lot of good useful advice. I thought mediation might well be in order here after Dr. Phil did a series on adoption scams, but that went fairly well and for once I believe he got a few things done right. I had time for plenty of fun and down right quirky post, I hope everyone enjoyed! There was a piece on careful adoption wording inspired by fellow blogger Jan, as well as a post I am particularly proud of about the birth bond versus attachment.

If anyone missed the article I blogged on titled two real mothers, you MUST go back and read. This was by far the best article I have reviewed to date. What a wonderful story! An interesting post talked about all the stress I feel when I am not fully accepted by other moms, many of you shared you have had similar troubles. I did a little bragging about my girls on the cover of Adoptive Families Magazine, and my son featured in a Birthmother’s Day card too, I am so proud! I finished up the month with a review of a book, Because I loved You, written by birthmother Patricia Dischler that I would encourage all members of the triad to read, and a johnny come lately tribute to Black history month and one of my hero’s Dred Scott. There were so many more I did not even touch on here, I hope you will look back and read them all!

Over all a BUSY BUSY month. I am worn out so gonna take a long, long nap and see you in March!

Thanks so much for reading!
