Digital Scrapbooking Programs and Websites

In a recent post, I introduced you to my efforts at digital scrapbooking. In this post, I will share some of my favorite digital scrapbooking websites and the programs I personally use in my own digital scrapbooks.

Just like with old fashioned scrapbooking, digital pages are created by layering photos with backgrounds and embellishments. Many of the digital scrapbooking programs come with lots of backgrounds, embellishments, clip art, etc. that can be used to enhance your pages. These programs are not very expensive – my favorite is Creating Keepsakes and it was around thirty dollars. Hallmark and Scrapbook Factory also produce digital scrapbooking programs. These programs also come with pre-made pages that you can just add your photos too or you can create your own layouts from a blank template.

Now, you may be thinking that with digital scrapbooking you are foregoing small embellishments like brads or ribbon. Not true! Of course, they will not have the three dimensional feel but a lot of scrapbooking programs but they still look great on the pages and give the pages a more traditional feel.

Once you own a scrapbooking program or any program that you can create layouts in and then you can have some fun! There are many digital scrapbooking websites in cyberspace that offer inexpensive or free high resolution images to decorate and enhance your pages. And unlike stickers or die cuts, digital images can be modified and used over and over in your scrapbook.

Here are a few digital scrapbooking websites to get you started:
Scrapbook Flair - This site offers a free digital scrapbooking program that you can download. I’ve never used this program before so can’t attest to the quality of it.

Scrapbook Bytes - This is a great website for the beginner or novice digi scrapbooker. It has tutorials for beginners and fun challenges that you can participate in. It includes a forum and gallery to gain inspiration from others.

And once you have your pages created, then of course, if you so desire you can print them out using your home printer or by going to a copy store and having them print the pages for you. I always print my pages and keep them in albums!

Happy Scrapping!
