I had a request to post instructions for the no-sew fleece blankets and I try to meet requests whenever possible! Before I share the instructions, let me say thank you to those of you who have shared with me photos of the crafts you have made using my instructions! It’s really neat to see the creativity of others. If you’ve made something using instructions that I have posted, I’d love to see it! Or if you have ideas for a project I should attempt, let me know!

On to the no-sew blankets……
These blankets are so easy to make and would make a great gift from a birthmother to her child. With Christmas being less than 130 days away, this is a good time to look for and get started on any Christmas craft projects that could be given as gifts.

Making the blankets is really easy, I promise! Fleece comes in so many neat and different patterns nowadays from baby prints to animal prints to college prints and even popular character prints. Make a blanket that reflects the personality of the person you are making it for. Typically, fleece fabric is used with the blankets, but I have also used flannel. It’s a little cheaper and not quite as heavy if you were making the blanket for the spring or summer months too.

Amount of fabric needed:

  • Baby blanket- 1 ¼ yards each of 2 coordinating colors/prints

  • Child size – 1 ½ yards each of 2 coordinating colors/prints

  • Adult size – 2 – 2 ½ yards each of 2 coordinating colors/prints

Directions:

  1. Lay out the 2 pieces of fleece on top of each other and trim the edges.

  2. Cut a 4 inch a square out of the corner on each side.

  3. Cut strips 1 inch wide and 4 inches up all the way around the blanket. For a more fringy look cut the strips ½ inch wide instead.

  4. After the strips are cut, join the 2 pieces of the blanket together by tying it in double knots.

It’s that easy! You are done and have a blanket! You can make a matching pillow in the same fashion.
