Do you have any baby socks that you saved from when your child was in the hospital or perhaps your child’s adoptive parents gave you a special pair as a keepsake or something? I do have a pair of Charlie’s socks that he wore while he was in the hospital. I kept them and put them in my “Charlie memory box.” There is just something so sweet and precious about those tiny little baby socks; especially now that he is getting so big!

I came across this really cute keepsake craft involving baby socks and thought it would be a sweet craft for a birthmother to make as a keepsake or even for an adoptive mother to make and send to her child’s birthmother. I dug out that pair of baby socks from their place in the memory box and gave it try.

Items needed:

  • Baby sock(s)

  • SPONSOR
  • ¼ cup – ½ cup of dried flowers or potpourri (I used lavender flowers but use what you like.)

  • Ribbon to match sock

  • Glue

Instructions:
1. Fill sock about one half to three quarters of the way full with dried flowers.
2. Once the sock is to desired fullness, add a little glue around the top of the sock to keep it closed. I liked the sock best with a cuff, so I folded the cuff down and then placed the glue on the inside. Cuffed or not cuffed, it’s your preference.
3. Then you just tie the ribbon around the sock and make a little bow.

Get a Little More Creative:

  • You could also get more creative here and something to the middle of the bow such as a button, a small flower (if it is a baby girl’s sock), or a small letter appliqué in your child’s initial.

  • You could use a pair of socks and tie the socks together.

And that’s it; you are done! You now have created a keepsake of your baby’s tiny newborn sock.

Happy Crafting!
