Karen Walrond’s blog, Chookooloonks, is smart, savvy, filled with gorgeous photographs and full-to-the-brim with fantastic writing. I stumbled across this adoptive, work full-time turned stay-at-home mom’s blog over a year ago.
Karen’s posts range from poignant musings on motherhood and adoption, to out-loud hilarious retellings of her current adventure. Her blog is also infused with entries of Trinidad culture – sometimes fun and sometimes serious. Almost daily she shares professional-quality photos of her rapidly-growing daughter Alex, self-portraits, nature and more.
The cool part is (and Karen is cool) you can purchase her prints and 100% of the proceeds are donated to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
Karen doesn’t stop there. Oh no, this is one prolific blogger! This past year I’ve seen her name pop up on BloggingBaby.com. She is one of their in-house bloggers and posts on adoption often. Her words can also be found at BlogHer, Dotmoms, Emerald Market, Gadling, MommyBloggers and The Pan Collective.
Karen has also recently launched Indigo Leaf Magazine, an online literary magazine for previously un-published writers.
By the way, she is also a former AdoptionForums.com user.
If you’d like to catch a glimpse of this blogging dynamo, Karen will be speaking this July at the BlogHer ’06 conference in San Jose, California.
So click now to read her Chookooloonks site, you’ll love it! “I’m just sayin’.”
