It is still unseasonably warm here in the south, but it is beginning to cool down a tad. Hopefully full fledged autumn will descend upon us soon because I really don’t know how much more I can take of this seventy to eighty degree weather.
Fall has some great photo opportunities! I thought I’d take a minute to share some of those as there are many opportunities in which adoptive mothers (or parents – I just assume that the moms are the ones taking the most photos as that’s how it is in our family) could take some great photos of their child for their child’s birthmom. If you have a visit during the autumn season, you could also do some group photos of birthmoms and their children, adoptive parents, birthmom, children, etc. You get the point; lots of combinations you could do there.
Pumpkin patch photos are great if you have a nearby pumpkin patch. Dress your child(ren) in autumn colors and snap away amongst many orange pumpkins. A lot of pumpkin patches have scarecrows set up where you can do photos as well as bails of hay. If your child is a baby, put him or her in the midst of some really big pumpkins, so cute. If you decorate your pumpkins when you get home, take some photos of them decorating pumpkins as well as the finished masterpiece.
If you have older children (like pre-school to elementary age) take some photos of them playing in the fallen leaves. If your child is still a baby, plop him or her down in the middle of a pile of leaves and snap away some photos.
Halloween is a great opportunity for photos! Take some photos of your child all dressed up in his or her costume.
Choose a favorite photo and send it to your child’s birthmother. Most craft departments at big stores like Wal-Mart now carry “photo cards” which are a plain white card with a square space for the photo. The card opens and you can write on the inside. Buy some Halloween or fall themed stickers (depending on what the photos are). Put the stickers on the border of the card and you’re done. Send it off!
Any day I receive a photo out of the blue of my birth son is a really awesome day!
