Adoption Songs - Top 15

I love music. I always have. I took private voice lessons, piano, and was very involved in show choir back in high school. I loved the feeling I get when while singing and being on the stage. I love how I can slip into a different mood or mind frame while singing certain songs.

Knowing that about me, it’s no doubt that I don’t have a slew of adoption songs in my music collection. Although a few of the songs are directly or indirectly specifically about adoption, most of the songs are not songs with lyrics that relate specifically to adoption, but songs that at times remind me of Charlie or my love for him.

Here’s my top 15 list of songs related to adoption.

  1. Here Without You – 3 Doors Down

  2. I Hope You Dance – Lee Ann Womack

  3. From God’s Arms to My Arms to Your Arms – Michael McLean (This one is specifically about adoption.)

  4. SPONSOR

  5. How do I Live (without you)- Trisha Yearwood

  6. The Promise – Tracy Chapman

  7. God Speed (Sweet Dreams) – Dixie Chicks

  8. I Will Remember You – Sarah McLachlan

  9. Lullaby in Blue * – Bette Midler

  10. Find your Wings – Mark Harris

  11. Forever Young – Bob Dylan

  12. What Might Have Been – Little Texas

  13. One More Day – Tracy Chapman

  14. Pray for Me – Michael W. Smith

  15. Butterfly - Mariah Carey

  16. Secret – Reba McIntire *

What’s your favorite song that reminds you of your love for your child?

*Indicates that the song is directly or indirectly specifically about the subject of adoption.

For our oldest DD it's "You'll be in my heart" by Phil Collins I think this song is soooo right for US. Our DD is Biracial & we are CC. I LOVE the whole meaning of loving each other & being a FAMILY even though we are different races.

For our youngest DD it's "I Knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden. This one is special to me & our DD. In the lyrics, "I think I dreamed you to life" is how I feel about her. It also says "1000 angels dance around you" DD has special needs & I tell her she has angels watching over her.

For our DS his song is "Beautiful" by Jim Brickman As soon as the song begins it tells exactly how I feel. "From the moment I saw you, from the moment I looked in to your eyes. There was something about you, I knew..." It also says, "I can't believe that I have you I can't that your here in my arms, I have waited a life time, for you".
