January Review
Well, the first month in the new year has come and gone! The start of the New Year reminded me that 2008 lies before us like the unwritten pages of a book. Kind of exciting to think about it that way, that the slate is clean and we can try and mold the year into whatever we want it to be like. One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to try and write letters to Charlie each month (January is done and in the mail!) so I shared some tips on how to make that more do-able.
This first month of 2008 actually did not fly by, as many moths previously had. In fact, I’ve felt as if January has crept by rather… [more]
December Review
December was a very busy and emotional month for me! I didn’t get to write as much as I wanted to between some tiny network issues when they debuted the blog makeover, the holidays, being sick, and Noah being on Christmas vacation just to name a few. Although I didn’t get to write as much as usual, I did manage to squeeze in some holiday related posts. I discussed gift giving between birthmoms and their children as well as buying gifts for your child’s sibling(s). For those who needed gift ideas, I shared some great gifts that incorporate photos as well as some gift ideas for baby’s first Christmas. I also discussed the “ornament tradition” in which I buy or make Charlie (and his… [more]
November Review, December Preview
November was a super busy month here on the blogs as well as just in general in my life! The month flew by as they all do lately and now we are in the home stretch to my favorite holiday, Christmas!
As a part of National Blog Posting month, I attempted to post one entry a day, but a bout of pneumonia and a relapse did not allow for me to be completely successful however I did get a good many posts written on my chosen theme which was the negative and positive aspects of open adoption. It's easiest just to list those.
Negatives in my NaBloPoMom Series:
1. Negative: Hearing Him Call Someone Else Mom
2. Negative: Moments Missed
3. Negative: Society's View
4. Negative
October – Summing Things Up
The month of October was an interesting one here full of highs and lows both emotionally and apparently blog wise. Things started off strong, but as our family reached some new levels of trust in our open adoption relationships here (like one child’s first overnight visit with birthfamily!), not hearing any responses on the blog, has made me wonder if my readers have taken their leave of me. I sure hope not!
Before I review what else I have blogged about during the month, I want to take the time to remind readers if there is something specifically that you would like to read about, or see in a blog, Please drop me a line. I would love to hear from you! I want to not only… [more]
October Review, November Preview
It finally feels like fall here at last in my neck of the woods! I can break out my boots finally! I took a break this month and headed out of town where I re-charged my batteries in the Great Smokey Mountains. It was a nice break, but unfortunately I caught walking pneumonia and brought it home with me.
Although I took a little break, it was still a busy month here in the blogs. I started the month of October out with a post about a lesson I have learned from my son! Charlie has taught me that I shouldn’t be afraid to be open about adoption because he’s not!
When Charlie recently began asking me questions about his adoption, I realized… [more]
September Recap
Another month bites the dust! It’s hard to believe that the months are ticking by so quickly!
The month passed quickly in the blogs as well as I did a series of birthday posts since Charlie’s birthday is in September. I kicked off the birthday bonanza with a trip down memory lane looking back at each of Charlie’s birthdays up until this point. For those birthmoms who are able to attend their child’s birthday party, I shared some tips to make the party fun for all involved and since not all birthmothers can attend their child’s birthday parties and celebrate with them in person, I discussed some ways you could honor your child if you can not be with him or her on… [more]
August Recap, September Preview
It’s really hard to believe that another month has flown by. August is almost over and we are rolling into September which has me very excited!! Not only is my birthday in September, but (for me) it signifies that it is almost and fall (with winter coming in at a close second) is my favorite season. I can’t wait to drag out my comfortable sweaters, start wearing my boots again, drink some hot cider, and go to football games! Although, it’s still too hot to do all that at the moment, I’m crossing my fingers that it will be soon.
Before, I get too excited about fall, let’s recap some of the information I’ve shared with you and topics I have covered in August. If you have… [more]
May Review and June Preview
May flew by with lots of post and discussions here in the open adoption blog.
Since Mother’s Day falls in May there were discussions about Mother’s Day along with ideas on how to cope with Mother’s day, an explanation of Birthmother’s Day. I also wrote about past http://open.adoptionblogs.com/weblogs/our-birthmom-s-day-event Birthmother’s Day events and shared lots from this year’s Birthmother’s Day event and my favorite part of the event, the candle light ceremony.
Also, I discussed contact a little bit in the posts about ongoing contact and post adoption contact agreements. I gave you tips on how to communicate effectively to try to avoid contact issues.
Love Thursday posts are always fun to write and this month’s were no exception as… [more]
It’s April
It’s April! Can you believe it? The pages are flying off the calendar, aren’t they? Each month, I marvel at how quickly the previous month seems to have gone by. It’s teaching me a valuable and important lesson: time doesn’t stand still. Live in the moment! Don’t procrastinate!
Last month, several bloggers recapped their posts for the month and this month I thought I’d follow suit. It just seems like a nice way to bring closure to the month and for me personally to look back over and see what I have accomplished.
I really didn’t have any major series going on this month. Although, I did do the short “dealing with” series that included Dealing with Divorce, Dealing with a Big Move… [more]
Welcome March!
February is over and I feel liking shouting “Halleluiah!” February has seemed like the longest month ever to me, yet at the same time I am thinking, "Wow, it's March ALREADY!" I know my friends in the north have had it bad,
with all the snow storms and very frigid temperatures, not even being able to leave the house much. Here in the south, we’ve had some cold weather and even some ice and just a tiny little bit of snow, so we haven’t had it too bad this year, but it feels like I’ve been sick and stuck in the house all winter long. It’s been harder to write, harder to think, and these days are just smooshing into one another. There… [more]
